La Jolla Pharmaceutical Company is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of innovative therapies intended to significantly improve outcomes in patients suffering from life-threatening diseases. The company has several product candidates in development including a first in class medication to address an unmet need in the critical care therapeutic space.
Responsibilities
The Health System Account Manager (HSAM) will represent La Jolla Pharmaceutical Company in its effort to improve the outcomes of patients with life threatening diseases. With the expected launch of our first product, LJPC 501, the HSAM will be responsible for the promotion of the medicine to decision makers and influencers within major health systems in their assigned geography. 
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Identify, build, and nurture relationships with key customers working within the C-suite, Pharmacy, Quality, and IT teams of targeted accounts
  • Set up headquarters approved programs and initiatives within aligned health systems that will raise the awareness of LJPC 501 through partnership with senior administration that will cascade down to health care providers treating patients
  • Serve as lead within key health systems to align La Jolla Pharmaceutical Company resources and capabilities to gain formulary access and later drive pull through of product sales
  • Participate with matrix partners (Critical Care Specialists, Clinical Nurse Educators, and Medical Science Liaisons) to build effective business plans to influence and onboard key accounts
  • Partner with administrators within health systems to remove barriers to appropriate use of LJPC 501 
  •  Establish headquarters approved disease state initiatives from the top down to reshape the treatment of hypotension associated with vasodilatory shock
  • Ensures compliance with all company policies and government regulations
Requirements

Qualifications

  • Education and experience:
    • Minimum of Bachelor s Degree. MBA, PharmD, or RPh preferred
    • Previous pharmaceutical experience is strongly preferred. Exception will be made for those with strong pharmacy or quality background in health system/hospital setting
    • Strong clinical expertise and ability to articulate and communicate complex information
    • Experience presenting to groups and individuals

 

  • Specialized knowledge:
    • Understanding of local healthcare dynamics and connectivity of payors, health systems, hospitals and healthcare providers
    • Knowledge of key decision makers and customer insights that influence the uptake of medicines within a health system/hospital
    • Demonstrated understanding of health system/hospital formulary process and requirements and ability to navigate a health system/hospital system
    • Strong business and financial acumen
    • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex clinical information
    • Demonstrate a working knowledge of FDA OIG, HIPPA regulations and approved guidelines for pharmaceutical promotion and adverse event/drug reaction reporting, medical education guidance and compliance policies
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, standard programs (Word, Excel and Power Point) and Outlook for email communication

    • Self-motivated, reliable and ability to function independently within a team
    • Positive attitude
    • Ability to travel up to 70% including some overnight and weekend commitments
    • Valid driver s license to drive to assigned healthcare accounts, unless otherwise specified
