Primary Duties Create and deliver fully tested computer programs and, when required, modify basic computer systems design on schedule, within prescribed resource limits, and in accordance with client requirements and departmental standards. Continue to develop understanding of the computer programming process in both development and maintenance situations and assume an increasingly active role in the area of computer systems design. Support user client inquiries and problems, and address operational and program discrepancies. Responsibilities Participate in medium/large size projects, demonstrate strong business knowledge, require limited direction, give moderate guidance to others, handle complex problems, possess strong knowledge of SDLC. Gather, understand and document business objectives, specifications and requirements on medium/large size projects. Develop, and execute unit/system test cases, scripts and plans. Facilitate testing activities within the team. Code, test, debug, and document programming application activities following SDLC processes, application processes and quality validation (when appropriate) for small to medium projects. Assist in developing detailed specifications from which incumbent will write programs. Define, design and document business flows and processes for medium/large projects. Define and articulate business rules required for data accuracy and consistency. Define and resolve data quality issues. Act as the primary contact for the data management team/process Provide end user support on applications supported within the organization. Mentor/train junior team members. Identify, analyze, propose and document appropriate solutions for problems and issues that may impact the project. Identify and understand broader business impact. Determine solutions and escalate when appropriate. Use technical tools (queries, process maps, etc.) for problem resolution. Understand and follow appropriate SDLC, quality validation processes and application processes. Communicate status, solutions and concerns. Disseminate information in a timely manner within the team and across functions. Establish and maintain relationships within the business or function. Provide cross-functional and business knowledge to develop business system and process alternatives. Provide strong knowledge of an enterprise/ cornerstone system (such as EBM, JDE, PeopleSoft, Siebel, Metaphase). Train others as appropriate on specific area of business or systems expertise. Assist in development of training materials and/or conduct training. Education and Experience Typically requires a high school diploma or GED plus 10+ years of related experience or bachelors' degree in information technology or related technical field and 8+ years of related experience. Leadership experience required. Key Skills, Abilities, and Competencies Extensive knowledge of the application development process. Programming skills in technologies used. Knowledge of the systems development life cycle and technology infrastructure. Solid knowledge of the application development process. Strong knowledge of relational databases concepts and querying. Ability to present technical design to non-technical personnel. Familiarity with business process flow and/or entity relationship modeling. Good communication (verbal/written/listening) skills. Experience with GMP systems and change management process. Demonstrated focus on quality. Must be detail oriented and able to work within a team setting. Experience on leading contingent labor or junior programmer analysts. Complexity and Problem Solving Identify, investigate, analyze, propose and document appropriate solutions for problems and issues that may impact the project or operations. Other Job Requirements Provide end-user support on applications supported within the organization during and off business hours.
