Job Description


Systems Engineering is responsible for the operations of both Takeda s High Throughput Crystallization Robotics and Compound Management. An intern has been utilized to perform critical tasks in advance of running automated instrumentation to ensure smooth operations and to allow core fulltime staff to focus on higher level tasks. The objective of the Systems Engineering Intern is to support protein crystallization efforts and compound management order fulfillment. The tasks performed by the intern are tailored to ensure maximum productivity for SE automated systems and on-time fulfillment of deliverables to stakeholders. Note: due to involved nature of this position, the internship requires a 1 year minimum commitment.


  • Stock solution preparation and rotation
  • Crystallization screen production (coarse and fine screens)
  • Assists loading stock solutions on deck of liquid handlers
  • Assists with daily order fulfillment ( weighing and transferring research compounds)
  • Preparation of consumable lab ware for use on automation
  • Container management (taring, weighing, bar-coding, storing, disposing)
  • Maintenance of laboratory consumables
  • Maintenance of laboratory equipment
  • Laboratory organization


  • Undergraduate in good academic standing (sophomore or junior preferred)
  • Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry degree preferred but not required
  • Flexible, dependable (must have reliable form of transportation)
  • Enthusiastic and organized
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently

  • Carrying, handling and reaching for objects
  • Quick reflexes, ability to move quickly and to work in close quarters
  • Work periodically in a 4 C cold room environment
