Director - GI ( Gastroenterology ) Leadership & Strategy

POSITION OBJECTIVES:

  • In this this role you will be responsible for the development of Takeda s overall GI leadership strategy to clarify both internally and externally Takeda s commitment to the GI therapeutic area
  • As this role ensures alignment of GI strategy and associated tactics across multiple Business Units (BU s) with GI assets (Neuroscience BU, GI BU, Managed Markets and Strategy and Planning) and multiple cross functional areas (commercial, managed markets, medical, R&D).
  • This role is also responsible for implementing key GI leadership tactics, including one annual marque event called the GI Summit.:
  • The objective of the GI Summit is to bring together thought leaders across a variety of disciplines (including physicians, NPs or other advance practitioners, payers, policy makers, patients, advocacy organizations and payers) to discuss key macro healthcare issues through the lens of GI. 2019 will be the inarguable year for the Summit and will establish how Takeda is viewed externally by functional experts in the GI space.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:


Own all aspects of US GI Business Unit leadership strategy. Lead, develop and pull through integrated and overall customer strategy, engagement and execution plans in support of Takeda s leadership in GI.
Set direction for integrated execution of franchise strategic plans at national/regional scientific meetings with aligned purpose. Develop integrated commercial congresses, communications and summit strategies to help inform brand strategies and keep Takeda s GI focus crisp to our patients, physicians and customers.
Lead design and execution of GI industry's first ever GI Summit, bringing together thought leaders across a variety of disciplines (including physicians, NPs or other advance practitioners, payers, policy makers, patients, advocacy organizations and payers) to work together to eliminate barriers preventing GI patients from leading optimal lives.
Extended experience of GI Summit beyond the one-day event to encourage post-meeting collaboration and action among attendees that leads to meaningful change.
Establish GI Summit as an annual industry leading and influential event whose outcomes meaningfully impact the quality of patient s lives.

Technical/Functional Expertise:
Demonstrated experience of implementing innovative and unique idea and processes that have resulted in a significant and measurable impact. Experience of working and innovating across wide and diverse functional areas also preferred.
Significant experience in highly competitive specialty markets with complex science and reimbursement. In-depth knowledge of service company business models.
Proven experience partnering with cross functional stakeholders to develop innovative strategies and programs.
Ability and experience to perform all functions in adherence with legal, compliance and regulatory guidelines.
Innovative and creative thinking demonstrating implementation of real and measurable positive change.

Ability to anticipate future market trends across the industry and proactively refine and adapt leadership strategy to stay at the forefront of leadership trends.
A demonstrated ability to process complex information and summarize it concisely in writing and/or verbally in a professional manner and in a time sensitive environment is required.
Demonstrated success in development/execution of targeted briefings for executive leadership, senior management and business leaders; Well organized, highly motivated, innovative, process driven, results oriented; and Outstanding oral and written communications skills.
Proven skills as an effective team player who can engender credibility and confidence within and outside the company
Embraces and demonstrates a diversity and inclusion mindset and role models these behaviors for the organization
Experience in managing projects, including overseeing work plans, budgets

Must manage overall GI story to include all GI assets regardless of which business unit they will reside in the new organization. Ability to manage across business units and business partner teams.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

Bachelor s degree in a related field (policy, government, life sciences); Master s degree/PhD in life sciences, public policy, public health, political science, or MBA preferred
10 years experience in a variety of Commercial positions with in-depth experience of innovating and implementing measurable successful strategies
