Job Description

OBJECTIVES:

  • Takeda Oncology is searching for a creative, resourceful, integrative thinker for a highly visible leadership role. The Senior Director, Business Insights and Analytics builds and evolves a team of business and quantitative personnel and analytical capabilities to serve the US oncology BU leadership and marketing customers with advice and other decision support, so that brand performance improves as a result of evidenced-based research and interpretation.
  • The Senior Director, Business Insights and Analytics leads the function that provides strategic forecasting, commercial data analytics and marketing research for the commercial portfolio of the US oncology business. This is a critical role in ensuring that the US Oncology Business Unit achieves its vision of becoming an Insights driven organization where transparency on information is created and which leverages actionable intelligence and insight to drive strategic business and marketing decisions in a systematic yet agile way.
  • As a leader, the individual in this role will be accountable for further developing and building team capabilities necessary to synthesize meaningful, actionable insights by integrating a variety of primary and secondary data sources and creating a performance based culture that empowers and enables team members to efficiently deliver their best.
  • Build, coach and maintain a high performing team of analytical, quantitative and business minded individuals that collectively distill business insights from commercial data sources and primary market research.
  • Lead the accomplishment of several key business priorities by the BI&A team:
    • Lead insight driven forecast assumptions discussions that are future looking, market and competitive intelligence-driven, and flexible enough to meet the needs of evolving portfolio priorities
    • Work closely with key decision makers within and outside of the team to ensure alignment of key stakeholders on forecast assumptions and financial valuations
    • Drive strategic decision-making by developing and evaluating multiple forecast scenarios (as appropriate)
    • Drive secondary reporting and analysis, forecasting and market research for all products in US oncology commercial portfolio.
    • Develop and implement primary market research for qualitative exploration and quantitative assessment of markets, products, and companies across multiple customers (patients, payers and physicians as needed)
    • Effectively integrate information from multiple data sources to draw conclusions and make recommendations that are supported by customer insights
    • Analyze and monitor the performance of key brands/competition through management and analysis of key performance indicators (KPIs) and communicate results and recommendations to the brand teams.
    • Support business planning and portfolio prioritization process and updates through timely response to management s questions and requests
  • Utilize resources and experience to enhance the Insights process, deliverables and integration into the strategic dialog.
  • Establish and continually evolve the analytical strategy considering platforms, standards and toolsets required to not only meet current traditional analytic practices but also seek out evolving analytic solutions that bring increased business value to Takeda Oncology, such as marketing mix, segmentation, targeting/alignment, etc.
  • Ensure all commercial brands analytic needs are met with appropriate resources that consistently deliver on time.
  • Identify, select and manage a group of trusted vendor partners who can be accessed in cases where their unique skills are the best solution, or as a supplement to deliver outsourced project work in times of peak demand.
  • Continually evaluate the needs of the business and make budgetary recommendations on spend changes with regard to personnel, data, vendors or planned analysis.
  • Develop relationships with other internal organizations as necessary to ensure the downstream flow of information and data to the team.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to coordinate cross-functional analysis and data acquisition.
  • Continually update knowledge of industry data sources that could be used to improve Takeda Oncology s commercial analysis.

Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise

  • Deep expertise in generating commercial insights from large transactional data sets, including medical Claims and Speciality Pharmacy data
  • Complete understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, application and working knowledge of marketing analytics, sales analytics, decision science and quantitative market research

Leadership

  • Demonstrated ability to transform capabilities and mindsets of staff and business stakeholders
  • Excellent communication ideas including written and in-person presentation skills in a persuasive and appropriate manner. Ability to frequently communicate changes and intententions with high level of transparency to all stakeholders

  • Must be capable and will have the authority to make business, including organizational, systems and process decisions in their function after consulting and alignment with key stakeholders.

Complexity

  • Leads the team that provides business insights and analytics for all three US OBU brands, including hematology and solid tumor, across the United States

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • BA or BS degree required. Master's degree in business, marketing, or social sciences preferred
  • 10+ years related experience in marketing sciences,market research and/or management consulting
  • 8+ years experience in the bio/pharmaceutical or related field with direct responsibilities using research and analytics to influence the decision process of brand and commercial leadership strategy in support of marketed products; launch experience is a plus
  • 5+ years people management experience
  • Deep expertise in generating commercial insights from large transactional data sets, including medical Claims and Specialty Pharmacy data
  • Complete understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, application and working knowledge of marketing analytics, sales analytics, decision science and quantitative market research
