Takeda's summer internship program blends real world experience with an extensive overview of the pharmaceutical industry. Knowledgeable mentors will provide guidance as you gain professional hands-on experience. The summer internship program is 12 weeks in length and offers a unique perspective into a world-class pharmaceutical company. Compensation is competitive, and financed temporary housing is available to those who qualify. Our internship program also provides you the opportunity to network with people at Takeda through various planned events and activities.

The intern will gain exposure to:
  • Intellectual property (IP) legal advice sought by internal clients and provided by in-house counsel
  • Patent litigation in the pharmaceutical field
  • Providing IP support to the R&D organization
  • Managing IP assets of the corporation
  • Patent searching
  • Providing IP advice relating to business development transactions (licensing, M&A, etc.)
  • Trademarks for pharmaceutical products
  • Other IP issues addressed by in-house counsel


  • Providing support to TPUSA IP attorneys
  • Conducting patent searches using search tools and databases
  • Organizing and gathering information for inclusion in patent and trademark docketing database
  • Gathering information required for litigation, such as answers to discovery requests, inter-company agreements, and the like
  • Conducting legal research
  • Preparing Powerpoint presentations relating to legal advice on IP matters


  • Must be enrolled in a U.S. accredited law school for the semester before and immediately following the internship.
  • Undergraduate degree in science or engineering
Other Requirements:
  • Experience in each of the following MS Office applications:
    • MS Outlook Limited experience
    • MS Word Limited experience
    • MS Excel Proficient
    • MS PowerPoint Limited experience
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Interest in IP law
