As an Associate Director / Director, Immunology - Next Generation Biology Groupworking on the Gastroenterology Drug Discovery Unit team, you will be empowered to work cross-functionally with Data Science and Immunology divisions and contribute towards GI drug pipeline, and a typical day will include:
The immunologist will join the next generation biology (NGB) group in GI Drug Discovery Team which collaborates with multiple stake holders within and outside of Takeda to identify novel drug targets via internal research and external collaboration with biotech and academic partners for gastrointestinal diseases. In addition, to early target discovery and prosecution, members of the NGB group will provide scientific project and strategic leadership for immunology drug candidates through IND in collaboration with Translation Research and Early Target (TREC) discovery at Takeda. The NGB group is a growing interdisciplinary group tasked with bringing the next wave of novel targets and approaches including cellular/gene therapy for gastrointestinal diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, liver and enteric nervous system diseases. The NGB group expertise will encompass expertise in computational biology, engineering, regenerative medicine, synthetic biology/chemistry and immuno-biology. We are looking for a dynamic and driven individual join our growing group as an expert in mucosal immunology with an emphasis on neuro-immunology and microbiome-host interactions. The individual we are seeking will be an integral part of the drug discovery process as key leader to deliver on our goals as part of the larger GI Drug Discovery Unit (GI-DDU) composed of a matrixed group of approximately 80 individuals including our GI Immunology group based in San Diego. The AD/Director of Immunology will have wide visibility within the organization and among our academic and biotech partners.
