As a Manager working on the Global Supply Chain team, you will be empowered to interact with critical vendors to Takeda's operations and create strong partnerships with Project Teams to achieve efficient contract workflow, and a typical day will include:

POSITION OBJECTIVES:
The Manager of Strategic Sourcing and Vendor Management (S2VM) is responsible for operations of the global Strategic Sourcing and Vendor Management function of Pharmaceutical Sciences through the independent negotiation and management of outsourced business operations and relationships.
  • Leads provision of Outsourcing Operations
  • Contributes to creation and maintenance of effective Vendor Network Strategies
  • Contributes/Leads the ongoing maintenance of existing critical vendors (performance management, business/financial and operations reviews)
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Manages/oversees actions required to provide global Sourcing and Vendor Management (Operations and Management) to Pharmaceutical Sciences:
Operations (Contract Execution)
  • Create strong partnership with requesting Project Teams to achieve efficient contract workflow
  • Ensure alignment and collaboration with critical stakeholders that establishes and maintains seamless contract processes and terms (Vendor, Legal, Procurement, Finance, etc.)
  • Oversight and maintenance of ongoing outsourcing processes to ensure and maintain business continuity (e.g. routine progress/performance tracking, records management and risk/issue identification and mitigation)
  • Develop and maintain the systems/tools needed to provide visibility to the above activities
  • Oversees expert review of contractual documents, which may include confidentiality agreements, evaluation agreements, consulting agreements, master contract services agreements, development and manufacturing services agreements, and statements of work/task orders/change orders
Management (Vendor Management)
  • Establish and manage routine business review with critical vendors in coordination/alignment with Procurement and other key stakeholders
  • Provide Sr Leadership visibility to Vendor performance metrics and provide recommendations for adjustment to contract or vendor strategies
  • Identifies and escalates business-critical issues effecting Operations and Management to Sr Leadership as necessary
  • Develop communication plan and training for changes in procurement and/or vendor environment to stakeholders
  • Contributes to creation of robust network strategies through close coordination of Procurement and GMS objectives, outsourcing need, and knowledge and understanding of available/preferred vendor pools
  • Leads/contributes to Functional and Department strategy, goals and initiatives
  • Represents PS on cross-divisional governance and development teams while providing strategy and accountability for PS deliverables
  • Manages, oversees and supports assigned staff to optimize development, motivation and retention

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • BS/BA or equivalent degree
  • 5-10 years of relevant contracts management and/or operations related experience in supply chain and/or pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical developmentBasic knowledge of pharmaceutical development, and must demonstrate knowledge of several allied fields, such as legal, procurement and/or manufacturing
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Develops and uses knowledge and interpersonal skills to influence and guide stakeholders towards the accomplishment of goals and objectives; adapts well to different personalities and manages others on the team in a respectful manner
  • Ability to identify risks to multiple ongoing activities and propose appropriate risk response strategies
  • Ability to expresses one s self clearly and concisely to key stakeholders; documents issues and/or concerns concisely and comprehensively; adjusts style, language and/or terminology appropriate for the audience
  • Ability to independently manage complex internal and external resources (people, information, technologies and time) under routinely compressed timelines

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Paralegal Certificate a plus
  • PMP a plus
  • Advanced degree i.e. MBA a plus

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possible travel 5-10%
