Leads business reviews with the sales, managed markets and marketing leadership for the Specialty portfolio of products to provide recommendations on effective analysis to answer business questions and provide reporting on payer coverage and reimbursement business questions, serving the managed markets team.

Works in a newly formed intrapreneurial group of the Specialty Business Unit, which has the potential to drive blockbuster growth in the coming years.

Functions as an internal partner and liaison between the Specialty Analytics and Reporting Group, called Decision Support and Reporting (DSR) Managed Markets Senior leadership and has responsibility for communicating requirements for each ad hoc request, developing the project plan, and coordinating and preparing analysis that will be incorporated directly into the ongoing reporting, special projects, annual brand planning and other critical managed markets team decision processes. Has a deep understanding of the impact of payer activities in the specialty pharma space and can act as an advisor and speak effectively to senior leaders about potential analytics and reporting to be done.

Works closely with the reporting and data integrity teams to ensure data sources are clean and accurate and any resulting reports reflect the nature of the analysis.


  • Participates in the development of a holistic cross-functional Specialty DSR point of view to address specified ad hoc managed markets or cross-functional business questions that require the integration of output from marketing analytics, sales analytics, decision science, and primary market research. Creates value by adding own and synthesizing groups insights.
  • Operates independently and is able to understand the complexities and draw substantive conclusions from payer plan data in a medical claims based environment. Must have some familiarity with payer data in the retail space and a willingness to learn how to apply this knowledge in a medical benefit payer landscape for a specialty product.
  • Should be able to partner with the managed markets team to deliver answers to key business questions around payer behavior and work closely with the managed markets leadership to establish metrics and KPIs for managed markets initiatives
  • Develops and maintains reporting on plan level performance, pricing/rebating strategies, working closely with contracting and pricing team members
  • Works with DSR senior staff managers to identify internal and external resource requirements and negotiates resources to meet ad hoc brand team needs. Works with Managed Markets Leadership to make trade-offs in previous work plans to accommodate new projects.
  • Represents DSR Management Staff as appropriate on internal committees or external team (e.g. business partners) meetings and communications.
  • Leads the performance of detailed, comprehensive secondary market data analyses in the area of managed markets insights requests..
  • Leads projects that enhance the capabilities and effectiveness of the Managed Markets department in business analytics and data driven insights. This involves identification and implementation of data sources, cluster analysis techniques and setting recommendations.
  • Creates clear and concise reports for the managed markets and cross-functional team s needs, utilizing storytelling techniques and a deep comfort with managed markets concepts.
  • Ensures that appropriate analytical techniques are fully leveraged for any incoming analytics requests.
  • Works closely with data integrity team to ensure data quality, compliance and improve the quality of analytics.
  • Ensures that all reporting has gone through the QC process to ensure accuracy and communication clarity prior to being presented to our customers.
  • Evaluates, recommends and communicates appropriate models/techniques and industry knowledge to other team members.


Education and Experience:
  • BA or BS in an analytical field such as statistics, operations research, management science, industrial engineering, economics, math and a minimum of six years quantitative analytical or forecasting experience; or advanced degree in an analytical field such as statistics, operations research, management science, industrial engineering, economics, math, and a minimum of four years statistical analysis and/or quantitative experience.
  • Complete understanding and application of quantitative principles, concepts, practices, and standards surrounding the use and manipulation of secondary market data sources.
  • Knowledge of coding techniques in SAS (or R or Python) and VBA, and advanced Excel skills. Comfort with reporting production and automation techniques.
  • Minimum of two years pharmaceutical analytics/sales/managed markets experience preferred.
  • Experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Qlikview or similar preferred
  • Communication - ability to communicate ideas and data both verbally and written, in a persuasive, organized and appropriate manner, and preparing presentations for customer groups.
  • Analytical ability to analyze relevant data sources and understand how to use this information to drive projects that will impact the business. Curious and driven to find innovative solutions to business questions.
