  • Based in Cambridge, MA, the role is a lab-based research scientist who will work on cutting-edge Immuno-Oncology programs in highly matrixed and collaborative environment that relies on close interactions with Oncology teams as well as external academic, biotech, and clinical partners.
  • The scientist will support the progression of a cutting-edge, externally-enabled Immuno-Oncology portfolio and will influence the therapeutic area strategy through data generated and intellectual contributions.
  • The Senior Scientist II Independently designs and implements extensive scientific research projects, acts as a senior scientist consultant or as a manager of a smaller, early staged matrix project team.


  • Designs and directs research strategy and activities to meet program objectives; providing leadership, timelines and contingency plans.
  • Establishes project direction integrating science, key technical knowledge, and program objectives.
  • Acts as an expert consultant and scientific resource for others in the organization based on extensive knowledge from within own discipline
  • Collaborates with others, and acts as scientific resource for an aspect of a program.
  • Contributes to team problem resolution and objective setting.
  • Works with various pre-clinical models of xenograph/syngeneic mouse tumor models, including the utilization of appropriate genetically modified mouse strains.
  • Independently operates, for immune phenotyping, flow-cytometers such LSR Fortessa II and cell sorting on the BD FACSAria II/III.
  • Designs new protocols for sorting and optimize sorting parameters along with verification of sorting purities/efficiencies. Understand compensation and the complexities of polychromatic flow cytometry from 6 -18 colors.
  • Establishes and validates workstream for isolating various subsets of immune cells from various immune organs to single cell profiling by flow cytometry and transcript analysis.
  • Independently analyzes data, including FACS data, with interpretation of results and proposals for next steps.
  • May supervise research associates.
  • Prepares and presents comprehensive technical or project reports and formal presentations to full range of internal/external audiences. Provides guidance to others in project science direction.
  • Serves as senior company / project representative at external conferences, or business meetings.
  • Contributes to the authorship of scientific manuscripts, frequently as principal author.
  • Contributes strategic scientific guidance to company patent efforts.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and timely data in laboratory notebooks.



  • Ph.D. in Immunology from world-renowned laboratory with a minimum of 7 years experience, or equivalent.
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals demonstrating expertise and achievements in the Immunology field.
  • Proficient knowledge of Immunology to be reasonably self-directed in establishing immune-profiling assays in the context of tumorigenesis.
  • Experience working with primary human cells and tissues.
  • Experience working with mouse models in the context of immune or cancer biology, including hands-on experience with ex vivo isolation and manipulation of various immune cell subsets from mouse tissues.
  • Experience carrying out T cell functional assays, including evaluating responses to specific antigens.
  • Experience culturing and manipulating primary innate immunocytes (macrophages, dendritic cells).
  • Hands-on experience and ability to work with minimal supervision in carrying out FACS analysis with cytometers such as LSRII, FACS CANTO, and FACS ARIA II/III.
  • Proficiency in molecular/immunological assays such as ELISA/Luminex, qRT-PCR and TR-FRET.
  • Working experience utilizing public genomic databases to identify targetable pathways in various disease indications is a plus.
  • Good communications skills, both oral and written.
  • Good listening skills, but also not afraid to speak up!
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Strong team player who thrives in a dynamic, biotech-like environment.
