The Medical Writer develops exceptionally high-quality medical and scientific content and has overall responsibility as the internal Agency expert for all product/compound data, medical/scientific literature, and scientific aspects of deliverables for assigned accounts. In addition, the person in this role should demonstrate strategic thinking, and/or the desire to grow this skillset. The Senior Medical Writer will report directly to the Associate Medical Director.


  • Comprehensive understanding of the science of investigational and mature products and their respective disease states, and the keen ability to apply this knowledge to create effective promotional materials
  • Write and edit content, including headline and body copy for creative campaigns, slide presentations, commercial messaging platforms, and clinical trial information
  • Utilize company's research methodologies to identify gaps in clinician knowledge and practice, and facilitate development of appropriate commercial material
  • Ensure scientific appropriateness of all developed materials
  • Develop and oversee the execution of creative projects across multiple therapeutic areas, focused specifically on oncology
  • Track and maintain timelines for projects to ensure on-time completion
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional internal teams (account, creative, scientific) to drive deliverables the Senior Medical Writer will be the only dedicated medical writer on their cross-functional team, meaning they are solely responsible for the accuracy of scientific language in all deliverables (with support/guidance from the Associate Medical Director and others in the Medical Department as needed)
  • Client interfacing which includes client presentations
  • Develop content for and participate in new business initiatives
  • Develop and present medical downloads for internal teams, to ensure consistent knowledge across team members this involves presentation of complex scientific ideas to audiences with a variety of levels of scientific background
  • Manage and develop team members by providing leadership, strategic support, motivation, and mentorship to aid in their career development and growth within the company where and when appropriate

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant healthcare communications experience
  • Advanced degree in life science is required (eg, PhD or PharmD)
  • Superb writing and presentation skills, attention to detail, and able to think creatively and strategically
  • Ability to rapidly get up to speed on diverse therapeutic categories and clearly communicate information in a concise, audience-appropriate manner
  • Prior oncology experience preferred
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Can effectively manage time, multi-task, and handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment
  • Passionate about communicating science to a variety of audiences
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (eg, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
