United States, Trainee Medical Sales US_IN_LS_0005-MZ

Do you have a passion for life sciences and in interest in pharmaceuticals and drug development, but would like to work in a sales role and be remunerated directly in proportion to your achievements?

Are you a good communicator, a good listener, well spoken, and would like to learn advanced sales techniques?

Are you looking for an office-based role in either New York, Philadelphia or San Francisco, but one that allows you to get out to meet with industry professionals weekly?

Do you want to work at a successful company that offers great benefits, excellent training, fast career progression, and has interesting global clients?

If you answered yes, then a career at ProClinical could be for you. We are now hiring 5 people (in New York, Philadelphia and San Francisco) who have drive, good communication skills and are passionate about life sciences.

ProClinical is a life sciences service provider that has expanded rapidly, growing by 650% over the past 5 years to a current turnover of $47m and with an annual staff turnover of less than 4%. Put simply, we provide recruitment & executive search service, as well as contract staffing services, to pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology companies, medical device manufacturers and contract research organisations globally. So ProClinical helps hundreds of companies to find the right people to get their medicines made and to market. We also help hundreds of job seekers every year to progress in their careers.

Talented people make successful companies thrive. And because our clients are developing the latest, most innovative new medicines, hiring the wrong person can result in both costly delays & health risks to patients. So ProClinical has been offering a high-quality, premium recruitment service for over a decade, which so far has proven to be a huge success in Europe and Asia, and in January 2016 we launched new offices in North America.

As a Sales Assistant (or Trainee Consultant), you will be provided with full training from the start and throughout your career at ProClinical.

  • Equipped with the most advanced networking tools, your job will initially be to reach out to and engage with the right calibre of scientific candidate on behalf of existing clients.
  • You will be partnered with an experienced mentor whose job it is to guide you through your first 6 months to promotion. Initially, your main job will be searching, networking, advertising, headhunting, and then speaking with a diverse variety of potential candidates.
  • Your job will be to screen each candidate for the right skills & experience needed, as well making sure that the location and financial expectations fit, while simultaneously selling the job opportunity and encouraging them attend an interview.
  • You will help candidates to prepare for interview and close the deal in collaboration with your Consultant mentor.
  • Every time one of your candidates is successful at interview and accepts a new job offer, you will earn a financial bonus, and you will also move a step closer to being promoted to being a Consultant, specialising in your preferred field.

While ProClinical holds a unique set of values (Delivery, Knowledge & Trust), other companies do offer a similar service, and so a successful consultant at ProClinical is usually able to work quickly and can also be quite competitive and have high standards of work. The other raw skills that we look for are:

  • People skills: An ability to lead a conversation, to influence, and most importantly the ability to ask the right questions, in the right way, and to listen carefully to what people say in response. If you are good at talking but even better at listening, then keep reading.
  • Drive: A willingness to work hard for your success and a determination to succeed. You can be shown the path to success but only you can walk down it. You are given a lot of freedom to explore your own style, and are trusted to work hard. It is not easy or boring, and you will get a buzz from doing a deal, but there will also be disappointments along the way so you need to be a positive thinker.
  • Science: You will need to learn everything about the pharmaceutical industry from our structured training, from your mentor & senior consultants, from reading journals, and from speaking with industry professionals every day. You must, however, be genuinely interested in learning about things like biotechnology and how new medicines are made. If you have worked in Life Sciences before or have a degree in science, this will certainly help, but only if you also have the drive to succeed, and the People Skills.

Do you have what it takes? Why not upload your resume and we will be able to tell quickly whether or not this is a potential fit for you. There is also a video on our website that gives more guidance on what the job involves. If we think you might be the right type of person, we will arrange an initial telephone call with you to ask you some questions and to answer any that you may have. The next stage is to come to our offices for a more in-depth interview.

Know someone for this job? We offer a $400 referral bonus if you are able to refer anyone to us who ultimately gets the job. So why not upload your resume now, or forward this to a friend.
