The Position
To develop and lead a Growth Disorders regional sales team in the execution of sales strategies within assigned accounts that increase profitability to maximize sales objectives. Manages, trains, and develops direct reports, while managing regional budgets and executing regional business plans.


Relationships
Reports to the Vice President, Biopharmaceuticals Commercial Lead. Manages a Regional Business Unit, and has direct supervisory responsibility for Growth Disorders Therapy Managers (GDTM’s). Works closely with peers, the home office and field employees to maximize sales objectives and to ensure the development of people. Collaborates effectively and develops/maintains optimal relationships with all internal and external stakeholders. Internal stakeholders include, but are not limited to field leadership Market Access, Home Office functions, MSTs, Government, and Medical. External stakeholders include, but are not limited to physicians and thought leaders, key accounts, associations, and hospitals.


Essential Functions
  • Communicate regional activity of competitive products through timely submission of monthly highlight reports as directed
  • Develop and monitor performance against regional budgets
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of administrative requirements
  • Establish and oversee regional implementation, and monitor adherence to administrative policies and procedures
  • Evaluate appropriate use of regional resources to ensure attainment of profitability goals
  • Review and audit expense reports
  • Ensure appropriate level of coordination to attain regional business plan objectives
  • Ensure cooperation and congruence of programs and initiatives with other Regional Directors and the home office
  • Ensure requirements are met for the region (Number of physician calls per day, Reach, expense report submission etc.)
  • Oversee regional level coordination between field resources to meet needs of sales managers and key accounts
  • Adhere to and support company policies, procedures and sales/marketing direction. Implement company policies, procedures and Sales/Marketing direction

  • Continuously improve personal knowledge of Novo Nordisk products, competitive products, and management skills through ongoing home study and participation in company sponsored/approved training programs
  • Analyze, assess and develop regional business plans that include delivery of care structure, customer identification and prioritization, competitive analysis, success requirements, implementation plans, future trends, etc. Coordinate regional and national resources
  • Develop and oversee implementation of regional account targeting strategy. Set strategy, objective and implementation requirements and coordinate with regional business plans
  • Develop plan for assessing targeted customer needs. Coordinate plans with VP, peers and appropriate home office employees to feed requirements into program development (Marketing programs etc.)
  • Manage regional resource allocation
  • Monitor performance against strategic account management objectives/directives
  • Monitor regional program/initiative effectiveness
  • Oversee regional account relationship development. Manage critical account relationships and develop objectives with regional staff
Physical Requirements
75-90% overnight travel required. Driver must maintain a valid driver’s license. Must be in good standing by not exceeding the Novo Nordisk points threshold assigned based on review of Motor Vehicle Records.


Development of People
Ensure that reporting personnel have 3P forms with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process. Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility. Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.


Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree required
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive pharmaceutical/healthcare sales experience required
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with cross functional partners throughout the business
  • Excellent relationships with thought leaders in the medical community required. Relationships within the pediatric endocrinology community a plus
  • Must have a strong background in coaching and developing individuals/teams
  • Previous biopharmaceutical sales experience (Growth Hormone) a plus
  • Previous management experience required, preferably in pharmaceutical industry
  • Significant record of sales accomplishments requirements
