The Associate Director, Content & Editorial Management Communications drives increased performance and quality of Novo Nordisk digital content on both internal and external platforms through editorial planning, communication channel development, analytics, measurement and project management in support of Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI) business and related communications objectives. Helps establish a corporate storytelling engine for all digital channels (internal and external) and is an expert in digital communication, emerging technologies, visual storytelling and application of the corporate brand/visual identity. Develops measurement approaches and establishes robust analytics and insights to drive decision-making with colleagues in the department. Works at both strategic and tactical levels using analytics, primary research, project leadership, knowledge of new technologies and communications expertise. Shares expertise across the Communications function and with business partners to inspire learning and innovation.
Reports to the Senior Director, Content & Editorial Management. Collaborates and serves as a subject matter expert with all areas within Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI) and Novo Nordisk A/S (NNA/S) regarding communications and digital content & channel strategy.
Content Management: Understands all aspects of content strategy, from analysis and strategic planning to the ongoing creation, maintenance, and governance of content that services user needs and helps achieve measureable business objectives. Operates editorial processes, driving content ideas to the proper channels and improving quality of content so that it is more visual, compelling and strongly resonates with NNI stakeholders. Serves as a subject matter expert for digital content strategy development, planning, and execution. Supports the development, sourcing, and management of content. Ensures the implementation of corporate narrative/messaging across channels in communications projects to maintain consistency and incorporate the user experience. Collaborates with other teams across the enterprise to establish content strategy best practices. Provides input to optimize search and promotion for NNI owned digital channels. Takes into account competing and changing priorities, resources, and time demands to produce plans that are realistic and achievable. Partners with internal stakeholders to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory standards.
Channel Innivation: Drives innovation for NNI Communications dedicated corporate digital and social capability, including channel management, optimization of current channels (e.g. nn.us, LinkedIn, NovoNews, digital signage) and expansion into new platforms. Leads with clear requirements and an understanding of technology implications and tradeoffs. Defines and effectively communicates digital-based roadmaps and proactively sell that vision to internal stakeholders. Manages all aspects of change (I.T., communications, training, process updates) using standard project/change management tools. Works with leading technology partners to develop, test and pilot new features that improve stakeholder experiences. Proactively raises concerns regarding possible project roadblocks and provides solutions. Is a hands-on expert who welcomes the opportunity to differentiate Novo Nordisk content and digital communications. Advances digital content capabilities by identifying new opportunities, seeking necessary input from key stakeholders, and operationalizing the ideas. Stays current with evolving digital and social trends helping to shape new internal/external policies, processes or approaches to content management. Develops and implements best practice standards across NNI Communications, identifies department initiatives to develop skills and competencies for future growth and serves as a digital communications mentor/role model to other members of the team.
Stakeholder Understanding and Analytics: Uses surveys, media and online tracking, and other listening techniques to develop a holistic view of how stakeholders prefer to engage with Novo Nordisk and uncover opportunities to improve the user experience and drive content performance. Draws on stakeholder understanding to advise colleagues on optimal message content, timing and format for different stakeholder segments. Develops archetypes to guide communication efforts. Develops measurement approaches and establishes robust analytics and insights to drive decision-making with colleagues in the team. Utilizes various sources to develop data-driven Key Performance Indicator (KPI) dashboards that identify influencers and target audiences, monitor reach and resonance, and measure effectiveness. Shares expertise across the NNI Communications team and with business partners to inspire innovation and skill development. Guides decision-making regarding adoption and use of analytics tools and features. Develop/oversee analytics policies, procedures and guidance for the department, perform analytics training for NNI Communications team members

- A Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, English or a related communications discipline required
- Minimum 10 years of corporate, or agency communications experience required
- Minimum of 3+ years of supervisory experience strongly preferred
- Experience in developing digital strategies and tactics, with an eye towards corporate positioning and data measurement required
- Experience in the pharmaceutical/healthcare or other highly-regulated industry required
- Self-starter with demonstrated expertise and cutting-edge thinking in digital communication and communications operational excellence
- Able to work effectively in a cross-functional, collaborative environment with global as well as regional considerations
