Novo Nordisk is currently building a new diabetes API plant in Clayton, NC next to our existing facility that employs 800 people. The new plant will initially employ 700 employees to produce the active ingredients for a new diabetes oral treatment and a range of other diabetes drugs.

Position Purpose:

Project Phase: Assist with development of systems, processes & procedures needed to build a best in class spare parts management program.

Operations Phase: Continuously improve system/equipment availability & performance through verification of spare parts quality against specifications based on engineering drawings & designs.

Managing spare part inventory, movement, receipt & goods issue in SAP MM module.
Inspect & verify part specifications based on engineering drawings & designs.
Develop / continuously improve processes required to coordinate & track part repairs & rebuilds. Maintain inventory control of repair parts.
Coordinate with vendors & equipment owners for part modifications & repairs.
Monitor, Measure, & Report on Material Management KPI’s to stakeholders.
Accurate accountability of repair & modification spare parts within SAP, FASTPIC & physical storage: reconciliation between systems & processes.
Develop / continuously improve lay-up maintenance program to ensure reliability of parts.
Develop / continuously improve processes to receive, inspect, & stock spare parts for customers.
Lead/ coach/ mentor continuous improvement in the spare parts process.
Operate forklift, hand-truck & other machinery to carry out the movement of materials.
Participation in plant Closedown Team planning & execution.
Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties.
Execute 5’s principles & follow environmental, health & safety requirements.
Other accountabilities as assigned.

Education: PREFERRED
AA/AS/AAS degree in related field, or equivalent industrial, military or vocational training.

Experience: MANDATORY
•5+ years maintenance experience (pharmaceutical industry preferred).
•3+ years spare parts inventory management experience.

Technical/Process/Functional Knowledge: PREFERRED
•Knowledgeable in setting up inventory control systems & procedures in a storeroom environment.
•Knowledgeable in utilizing inventory control systems & procedures in a storeroom environment. MANDATORY
•Knowledge of maintenance practices, tools, supplies & parts in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
•Knowledgeable in fundamentals of materials management excellence.
•Computer literacy and excellent computer skills to include: SAP & Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). MANDATORY

Organization/Planning: PREFERRED
Attention to detail, ability to think critically & sequentially with proven time management skills. Excellent communication skills.

Physical & Other Requirements:
•Able to move equipment and/or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds within the facility.
•Able to routinely operate & inspect manufacturing equipment using hands.
•Able to be on feet for up to a 12 hour shift.
•Able to transfer materials within manufacturing environment. Frequently moves about the building to access other personnel & operational areas.
•Corrected Vision to 20/30 and/or ability to pass vision screening assessment necessary to procure motorized vehicle license.
•Able to ascend/descend a ladder to service equipment. Works atop elevated positions at heights.
•Able to secure a motorized vehicle license & operate a motorized vehicle.
•Able to work around odorous and/or hazardous materials.
•Able to perform critical job functions in extremely cold work environments & work in outdoor weather conditions.
•Able to position self within confined spaces for inspection, repair & maintenance of equipment.
•Able to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection.
