Job Description Purpose
Accountable for contributing to the development and implementation of the Obesity Market Development Plan and key strategic imperatives related to the development of Obesity as a disease and increasing awareness of the treatment of obesity in the U.S., including identifying and maintaining relationships with relevant decision makers, influencers and advocates. Accountable for implementing an efficient market development plan to maximize the number of stakeholders interested in treating obesity effectively. This includes necessary analyses to drive decision making and liaises with a broad number of internal and external stakeholders.
Reports to the Obesity Management Lead within the Obesity Business Unit. Works closely with many cross-functional stakeholders including the Commercial Field organization, Professional Association Relations (PAR), Government Affairs, Medical Affairs and Operations, Market Access, and Healthcare Professional (HCP) and Patient marketers, to seek input into strategy and gain development plan alignment. Other internal relationships include colleagues in Commercial Operations and Execution (CO&E), Regulatory, Legal, Global Marketing and Global Medical. External relationships include relations with professional services vendors, key thought leaders and other organizations dedicated to the advancement of obesity treatment.
Fiscal/Investment: Ensures policies and procedures are adhered to. Ensures projects costs stay within budget. Evaluates project impact vs investment ROI. Partners with Marketing Effectiveness team to develop and oversee implementation of key metrics (ROI / Impact).
Market Development Execution: Develops and maintains strong relationship with stakeholders. Continually seeks intelligence. Actively participates in relevant professional meetings and conferences. Develops and implements Market Development tactical plans. Develops relationships with and receives commitment from relevant Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI) and Novo Nordisk A/S departments to ensure the successful execution of strategies. Implementation of key metrics. Regularly reviews current program progress to ensure profitability goals are on track. Implementation of promotional and training programs, including coordination of involved external suppliers and agencies. Maximizes investment impact and understands return on investment (ROI) concepts to ensure program effectiveness. Develops strong relationships/partners with Medical Affairs, Managed Markets, Government Affairs and other corporate stakeholders within NNI and Global to ensure alignment and leverage. Manages projects through external strategic agencies. Develops various tactics – market research, communications, budgeting and forecasting, advertising, public relations, sales force promotion, patient education, etc. Works with Medical and Marketing functions to create and implement Market Development strategies. Identifies strategic and tactical gaps and works diligently to address them. Develops and executes accurate short and long term plans, forecasting, and business analysis. Ensures timely execution and follow-up, meets deadlines, prioritizes projects and time, anticipate problems and roadblocks to avoid crisis management. Participates in teams and works cross-functionally to integrate all plans and strategies and ensure strategic alignment.
30-40% overnight travel required.
* A Master's degree or equivalent experience.
* At least eight (8) years of relevant Inline Marketing, New Product Commercialization, and/or Sales experience, demonstrating a steady career progression with increasing roles of responsibility within the Pharmaceutical industry.
* Knowledge of the Obesity therapeutic area preferred but not required.
* Proven track record of effective strategic planning, execution and follow up
* Solid understanding of the Pharmaceutical marketplace.
* Strong ability to work on cross-functional teams. Extensive knowledge and experience in designing and implementing market development plans. Strong presentation and communication skills and demonstrated ability to work across departments and lead multifunctional teams.
