To help meet the growing demand for our diabetes treatment, Novo Nordisk expects to double production of diabetes drugs over the next decade. Novo Nordisk is currently building a new diabetes API plant in Clayton, NC next to our existing facility that employs 800 people. The new plant will initially employ 700 employees to produce the active ingredients for a new diabetes oral treatment and a range of other diabetes drugs.

Position Purpose: Support Head of Project Management Office (PMO) in driving key priorities across the project organization, including supporting Senior Leadership Team on execution & in initiating & maturing initiatives until line-of-business can assume ownership. Act as sparring partner to more junior PMO colleagues. Complete assigned projects & project tasks within cost, quality & schedule requirements.
Support executive decision making (Senior Leadership Team, Steering Group) including preparation & follow up on actions.
Drive key ongoing project priorities such as development of Operating Model, Project Governance, contract negotiations, etc.
Drive & support cross project activities by coordinating with Senior Leadership Team members & Project Managers regarding communication, cross project activities etc.
Initiate, develop & lead initiatives until line-of-business can take over responsibility for setting up reporting, dashboards, planning exercises, etc.
Lead preparation of team events such as all-staff off sites & Senior Leadership Team off sites.
Lead decision making activities & provide flexible ad hoc support with short notice.
Perform all work in accordance with applicable SOPs, cGMPs, corporate standards, state & federal laws/regulations.
Responsible for adherence to mechanism for monitoring project progress, intervention & problem solving with other line managers or personnel.
Responsible for communications to management & other units.
Other duties as assigned.
BA/BS in engineering, economics, business management, project management, or related field.
Alternatively equivalent combination of education & experience. MA/MS degree preferred.
5-8 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent consulting experience.
3-5 years proven experience in project management, preferably within Tier 1 management consulting, project management of large construction projects or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
Understanding of complicated project execution plans, documentation & standard operating procedures with attention to high-level concepts.
Understanding of manufacturing facilities, equipment, & maintenance is an advantage.
Experience with executive level communications & stakeholder management.
Basic understanding of contractual documents & ability to create work plans & detailed project schedules.
Excellent Excel & PowerPoint skills required.
Physical & Other Requirements:
Ability to work in & around an active construction site during project phase.
Ability to move throughout the facility in the performance of duties in proximity of process equipment & areas.
Ability to work hours necessary & according to process needs.
