Our intern assignments are designed to allow you to experience, first-hand, the type of work we do within Alcon. As an intern, you can make an impact on the business as well as continue to build your analytical, technical and leadership skills. Most projects offer the opportunity to work with individuals in a variety of capacities within the area you're assigned and, potentially in other functions. Our summer internship assignments could be in a variety of functions.
Work collaboratively with local department personnel and global students to conduct research on new technologies for partenteral and ophthalmic drug development platforms.
Contributes to, with assistance from department co-workers, research of new technologies applicable to ophthalmic and parenteral drug development.
Specific focus will be on technologies enabling sustained release of drug products.
Constructively collaborates with other research associates and innovation leads in the PTO (Parenteral/Topical/Ophthalmic) development unit to share research findings, assess opportunities and propose technologies for further assessment.
A minimum of one presentation proposal will be required as an output of this interface.
As required, assist with and/or conduct scientific experiments related to sustained release technologies under the guidance of a staff Formulation Scientist. Upon completion, work is reviewed for accuracy and documented.
Offer insights and ideas related to industry landscape, trends and technology improvements that could facilitate new approaches for standard drug product development activities within the function.

Current undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in an accredited university
Bachelor's Degree Required
M.S. desired; technical focus in Chemistry, Formulations/Pharmaceutical science or related field.
Ability to commit to a 6-month internship
Past internship or course work related to pharmaceutical and/or sustained drug delivery research is desirable.
