The General Manager, Digital Accelerator leads all aspects of innovation, strategy, initiatives and operations within a focus area ( track ) of the Accelerator in service to the Global Drug Development (GDD) digital strategy. The role collaborates with senior executives in GDD to identify opportunities to create digital solutions and leads multi-disciplinary teams of senior functional experts to demonstrate proof of concept, scale and complete technical transfer of the solutions to the end-state business owners to maximize value for Novartis while operating in full compliance, within budget and in a timely manner.
Guide innovation and provide strategic leadership to the track, comprising all clinical, technical, operational and commercial disciplines
Define the vision, key claims, overall development strategy and operational implementation based on regulatory and commercial requirements to obtain full scale business-as-usual transfer and maximize the value of the initiatives in the track
Anticipate internal and external drivers of changes to strategy, and respond by making rapid, well-judged adjustments Identify potential issues; develop, align and implement mitigation strategies
Convene and lead high performing teams to achieve superior results in a motivating work environment
Jointly with the global line functions and development units, align on staffing and appoint initiative and track members
Set goals, actively coach, and conduct the performance appraisal of the functional reports in close partnership with the line-functions
Identify, resolve and escalate resource issues
Drive project operations to achieve superior performance
Coordinate and oversee execution of the Program strategy across all sub-teams and functions
Communicate the strategy to GDD functions and other divisions and ensure that the agreed strategy is reflected in the operations
Drive and steer the implementation of the track strategy in close collaboration with the global line functions and other divisions within agreed timelines, budgets and resources at the required quality level
Set, measure, and enforce realistic goals for program execution Propose and manage internal and external budgets related to the program Ensure rigorous adherence to quality and compliance
Represent the track internally and externally with objective advocacy of the program s potential and transparent disclosure of program risks
Interact with DCN, IMB, NBS LT and other management boards to secure internal alignment of vision and strategy
Develop and maintain communication strategy for external communications and investor relations around the track initiatives
Shape the external environment to strengthen Novartis position related to the track by developing strong evidence and trust based relationships with key stakeholders (regulators, KOLs, patient groups, scientific societies)
Actively engage the regulatory, quality, information security, data privacy, legal, country/regional, and other line function teams for track initiatives

Minimum of a Bachelor s degree in a scientific, business or engineering discipline, Graduate degree preferred.
10 years of drug development experience or equivalent experience across multiple domains
Experience leading the development and/or implementation of digital products preferred
Experience in all stages of program lifecycle (concept/early stage through scale up/late stage), preferably in both digital and drug development
Proven people leadership capabilities leading cross-functional teams, looking beyond own functional area.
Proven ability to manage and coach people
Strong reputation and credibility
Integrated thinker across development functions with ability to scope and challenge their plans and deliverables Strong matrix management skills for bridging stakeholders (business, scientific, technical)
Access to and familiarity with external digital innovation ecosystem preferred
Experience in major Health Authority interactions preferred
