Job Purpose (State in one sentence the overall objective of the role)
Define and lead a patient engagement strategy with Franchises in Medical Affairs and implement patient focused initiatives across Oncology Medical Affairs. Lead generation of patient insights and ensure to leverage these insights to inform Medical strategy and execution of tactical plans.
1.Develop patient needs assessment for Oncology Global Medical Affairs as part of the integrated disease and product strategy (IDAPs) planning across the OBU portfolio.
2.Partner with Patient Relations group to identify medically driven opportunities with Patient Advocacy organizations in alignment with IDAPs.
3.Understand how the company is perceived by patients/patient groups in order to generate insights (e.g., surveys, ad boards together with Franchises) and develop patient focused objectives.
4.Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., GGD Digital, GMA Clin Ops, Medical Franchise Heads, Digital/MCE, etc.) to identify solutions/ strategic partners to improve the patient experience in Medical Affairs clinical trials.
5.Lead content framework for medical information across Oncology Medical Affairs and collaborate with Global MSL/MI leads to monitor medical inquiries from patients for trends and insights.
6.Partner with Multichannel Engagement (MCE) to identify digital solutions and tools to empower patients, improve patient experience and/or generate patient insights.
7.Lead development of framework to incorporate patients or patient perspectives in medical education programs and solutions.
8.Drive cross-functional and cross-divisional collaboration with key patient roles within Novartis to leverage synergies (e.g., Patient Relations, Patient Affairs & Policy, etc.).
9.Ensure close collaboration with Legal/Compliance to assess and understand opportunities for patient engagement in the context of policy and regulatory requirements.

Advanced degree (e.g MD, PharmD, PhD) or equivalent education/degree in life science/healthcare is preferred.
Experience in patient engagement/ advocacy/ insights preferred
7+ years experience in pharmaceutical industry or healthcare related, ideally R&D, Medical Affairs
Demonstrated organizational awareness including experience working cross- functionally and globally with strong influencing and leadership skills in a matrix organization
Excellent working knowledge of Medical Affairs activities including Medical Information, Medical Education and Scientific Exchange
Skilled at communicating complex medical and scientific concepts to lay audiences, including patients and caregivers
Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills
Demonstrated project and process management skills
