The Analytics, Data, and Effectiveness lead will set the strategic direction for an insights-driven analytics and research team that proactively helps drive performance and shape the future of Novartis Pharma and our Patient and Specialty Services organization.
In partnership with Franchise Heads, Patient Access Team and PSS Leadership, this individual will take a leading role in shaping strategy and operational management of data management (internal and external) and analytics to support effective data review and visualization across the Novartis Pharma portfolio. Through this strategic under-standing and thought leadership, this individual will define the key business questions and challenges facing our business that are critical to achieving business objectives. Translation of these questions/challenges into actionable insights and analytics initiatives is essential enable the development of recommendations and solutions so that business and brand strategies can be developed to meet performance expectations. Coordinates process improvement initiatives within and across PSS, establishing and tracking performance metrics. Many of the PSS programs are executed via external parties and we have a variety of data feeds/sources/inputs, the role of this person is to collectively work with our PSS program leads and the franchise commercial leadership to track performance, analyze effectiveness, model impact of changes, and drive the reporting and analytical agenda for the group.
This individual will be the Analytics/Data/Effectiveness expert for PSS, providing problem solving leadership to enable analytic-based solutions to business questions and challenges. This individual is recognized as an expert within the organization analytics/tracking/effectiveness of many of the US Pharma HUB Operations and tracking, Data Management Strategy, Dashboards (Brand/Franchise/Field), Program/Performance tracking/effectiveness and reporting across all programs (co-pay, adherence, hub operations, scenario planning etc..) She/he is able to provide problem solving leadership to enable analytic-based solutions to business questions and challenges in situations requiring new/innovative approaches. This person will guide a team of Analytics associates who work with US Pharma and with brand teams/other analysts to address business questions to help shape channel/customer contracts, design and refine patient service programs, shape our interactions with specialty pharmacies, build strategies, and maximize patient impact and financial return for our program spend. The team will be generating, analyzing and synthesizing data & insights for our brands and customers/channels is critical to the development of brand and customer strategies and to driving business performance.
Provide leadership for US Pharma: Become the key problem solving partner to the relevant stakeholders by establishing strong relationships with key business leaders and partnering with them in understanding their unique business challenges and priority data and analytical/reporting elements. Translate the business needs into actionable analytic-focused initiatives to provide solutions and/or recommendations to enable the business excellence.
Provide leadership for US Pharma: Recognized as expert in the field of Analytics/Tracking/Effectiveness (patient and specialty services a plus) as evidenced by establishing strong relationships with key business leaders and partnering with them in understanding their unique business challenges. Translate the business needs into actionable analytic-focused initiatives to provide solutions and/or recommendations to enable the business excellence.
Coach, guide and manage all team members and franchise/functional work streams: Ensure operations team focuses on critical business questions, drives towards strategic and synthesized insights, and suggests ideas and recommendations that enable better decision-making for the business.
Strategic thinking and leadership: Shape a vision, goals and priorities for Analytics/Data/Effectiveness team. Lead or shape strategic reviews/ deep-dives for Stakeholders and Influence business.
Functional Responsibilities: Deliver insightful and actionable related insights and analytics for the US Pharma organization. Manage department budgets, resources. Drive efficiency. Drive performance orientation.

Fluent English (Oral and Written)
Bachelor s Degree required (Business, Statistics/Operations Research/Mathematics, Market Research)
MBA preferred; Advanced degree, preferably in Business, Analytics, and /or life sciences
Experience in leading and delivery advanced analytics, reporting, and data mgmt functions, with specific emphasis on specialty pharmacy data sets and patients services preferred
Experience in Brand Marketing and/or other Business areas a plus (e.g., Managed Markets, Sales, Sales Ops)
Minimum 10 years of overall pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience, majority in the US, including specialty pharma experience (injected, infused, biologics and/or institutional products)
Minimum 5 years in managed markets/heathcare marketing and/or marketing research and/or analytics or related experience involving: framing of strategic questions to be solved, generating insights (primary research or secondary analytics), data management, synthesizing implications, driving for practical/actionable solutions, measuring impact
Minimum 5 years doing analytics in pharma
Strong expertise in communication and information/data management
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to translate a complex reports and analysis easy to understand presentations; proven ability to effectively present results to internal clients up to the executive level
Business Acumen - ability to link multiple insights across brands and channels to generate insights, prioritize business questions and develop effective recommendations
Learning agility: ability to pick up new trends and learn quickly
Demonstrated partnering and influencing skills, stakeholder management, project management, people management
Proven ability to lead and drive performance of a team
Solid understanding of research methods, experimental design (quantitative and qualitative) and specialty pharma, hospital data sources
Solid understanding of analytics, databases in the pharma industry
