Novartis is actively seeking a Service Delivery Manager Data Science to join our team in our East Hanover, New Jersey Corporate location.

The SDM Data Science is responsible to build capabilities, grow and run a Data Science function in Novartis IT. He leads the team for the capabilities needed to operate a scientific practice using advanced techniques to understand data and produce insights that are of value to Novartis. He establishes business value creation applying Advanced Analytics and Data Engineering techniques on a variety of small, medium and big data. The mission is to solve scientific, operational and technical challenges. The role encompasses the full lifecycle – from ideation to requirements elicitation, design, implementation and rollout of the solutions.

Major Accountabilities:

-Establish and grow Data Science team. It is multi-disciplinary and globally aligned with Novartis strategy.

-Develop a strategy for the data science team filling in whitespace of underleveraged and opportunistic areas to leverage Data and Analytics

-Hire new data scientist. Establish and run training program for data science at Novartis

-Establish a recognized presence of the capabilities and team via delivering impactful analysis, networking and effective communication strategies.

-Serve as focal point for Data Science capability and services for Novartis. Establish collaboration partnerships with various groups (franchises and functions) in Novartis. Add value by providing consulting on data science and running data analytics. Fully accountable of the results of this team

-Provide feedback and guidance to franchise and functional teams in their strategic planning and operations. Develop business cases, obtain sponsorship and funding.

-Contribute expertise of team to assist in system development projects in understanding business requirements and needs targeted towards data science teams as user groups.

-Accountable for the financial management for the respective portfolio of projects, accountable for Information Governance and other compliance requirements for the respective portfolio of projects and applications.

-Establish a process, methods and an operational service model to match demand.

-Collaborate across technology and analytics teams in Novartis

-Establish and nurture relationships with an external ecosystem leading to innovative applications of technology and data analytics.

-Support and lead initiatives to establish new capabilities and skills in the broader IT organization focusing on intersection of data, technology and science Additional responsibilities

-Ability to initiate and drive projects from conception to completion with minimal guidance

-Innovates, recommends and develop advanced predictive analytics, computational science, Natural Language Processing (NLP) and machine learning techniques/methodologies to answer research questions and synthesize insights that achieve business objectives.

-Establishes scalable, efficient, automated solutions for large scale data analyses, model development, model validation and model implementation. Works to translate prototypes into new products, services, and features and provide guidelines for large-scale implementation.

Location flexible to work in Cambridge, MA Novartis Office.

Minimum Requirements

-University degree in Statistics, Operational Research, Computer Science or in a highly quantitative field.

-Business fluent in English (written and spoken)

-At least 15 years of experience in Business and IT.

-8+ years in predictive modeling and large data analysis.
